Ancient Egyptian Beads Found In Pennsylvania and Florida

THE AMERICAN ANTIQUARIAN JULY 1870
Egyptian Beads

The forthcoming report of the Smithsonian Institution for 1877 will contain a paper by Prof. S. S. Haldeman, on a Polychrome Bead from Florida. The article describes what is known in archaeology as the strar pattern Bead, and contains a number of references to rare works. A bead of the same pattern as that described by Prof. Haldeman was found a half a century ago in Erie County Pa., which is supposed by its processor, Pro. L. G. Olmstead of New York, to have been brought to America by the Northmen in the eleventh century. Professor Olmstead believes these beads to be of Egyptian origin.
